Guzman Y Gomez, Westfield Bondi Junction

Assalamualaikum! So for this post it will be a little different than the previous posts because we are going to review about a restaurant instead of a coffee shop. Guzman Y Gomez serves Mexican food and is actually a well-known franchise, so it has a large number of branches around Australia, even in Sydney specifically. We chose to go to the Bondi Junction's branch because I think the restaurant is bigger and prettier.

The way of ordering is kind of like a fast food place; we have to line up at the counter and make our orders then they give us number to go and wait at our seats. I chose the seat next to the big glass window where I can see a great view of the city, but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it :( Anyways, we went there for lunch so there was a lunch deal at the time where we can choose a meal with variable prices and get a $1 soft drink that comes with it. Basically, there's a list of fillings you can choose from; chicken and beef assorted, and then you can choose what you want the filling in; nachos, quesadillas, burrito etc. I read from somewhere in the internet that Guzman Y Gomez is halal, so just to make sure I tried calling them but it went straight to the operating system for ordering on the phone. Even the website didn't provide information about the meat. So I had to ask when I was actually there and one of the employee told me that only the chicken is halal. So we can only order chicken.

I ordered the Chicken Guerrero Quesadillas lunch deal with Pepsi. This one is not spicy (Cause I can't stand spiciness). Mine was the cheapest and that's probably because the portion was small; I had two pieces of quesadillas that I think most people would not be full if they ate that, but it was enough for me.

Quesadillas Lunch Deal for $9.50 (with 1 soft drink)

Mun ordered the Chicken Guerrero Burrito with apple juice and a side of nachos with dips. There was rice and black beans in the burrito which was something we didn't fancy (but maybe you lot do!). The portion was larger than the quesadillas. The dips was the best thing I had here, it was guacamole and before this usually I didn't like guacamole because I'm not a fan of avocado but this is the best guacamole I've ever tasted in my life!

Burrito for $10.90 and Apple Juice (not in photo) for $3

Nachos and dips (best guacamole everrr!) for $5

We had another friend with us today, Syafiq and he ordered the Spicy Chicken Guerrero Enchiladas lunch deal with Mountain Dew. It was basically the same thing we had but it was served in a box and it had nachos. The portion is the biggest compared to the burrito and the quesadillas.

Generally I think it's a great restaurant especially for families to spend time as the ambiance is suitable. The restaurant was at the top floor so it was fairly quiet. The food was delicious and affordable. I definitely will come again if I have a craving for guacamole :D

Tom N Toms Coffee, George Street

Assalamualaikum Sydneysiders! Mun and I are having our Christmas break for two weeks, so the other day we wanted to go to this cafe at Newtown but Mun was sleeping till past 5 (probably because we cycled 2 rounds of Centennial Park that morning) and the cafe was already closed by that time. I had to figure out a coffee shop that opens till late night and I decided to go to Tom N Toms Coffee! It's a Korean cafe which has two branches at Sydney, one is at George Street and the other one is near the Town Hall.

We went to the one at George Street

When we arrived, we went straight to the cashier to order cause each of us already know what we wanted to order. This was my first time here and I've been wanting to eat pretzels (it's so much easier to get pretzels in Malaysia; Auntie Anne's is my favourite). This wasn't Mun's first time and she has always ordered Honey Butter Bread. After ordering, we went downstairs to take a look cause there was two seating areas; upstairs and downstairs.

 Downstairs

They gave us buzzer disk while we wait, so we'd know when to take our food

Pretzel Combo for $10

I ordered a Cappucino and Cinnamon Sugar with caramel sauce for my Pretzel Combo. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't serve the pretzel as a whole but instead cut it into pieces. The pretzel was also was not as good as I was expecting (maybe because I had high expectations due to my experience with Auntie Anne's). On the bright side, I saved $1 for this combo because if I didn't take the combo, the drink and the pretzel would cost $6.95 and $3.95 separately (and that's without the dipping sauce). The coffee was okay and compatible with the price.

Also a combo, this one for $12

Mun ordered Honey Bread Butter and Hazelnut Latte, this one is also much cheaper compared to getting them separately. I personally think that the Honey Bread Butter is their specialty, it's definitely better than the pretzel. The Hazelnut Latte was also okay but not much for a coffee lover.

The ambience was nice but I still think they need to provide more air-conditioning during summer, it would be more comfortable. Overall it's still a great experience and I would come again to try some o their other food (most probably not the pretzel). I'm sure I would need to explore their menu to identify their specialty. You guys should explore too!

Brewing Now, Kingsford

Assalamualaikum readers! So for our first post we are going to review about a new coffee shop at Anzac Parade in Kingsford which is quite near to our place. We came at about 4.00p.m which is quite late considering that we're in Australia and most shops close at 5.00 to 5.30p.m.

When I ordered my cup of coffee, the cashier was very friendly and was joking around with me; small Mocha for me and large Cappucino for Mun. Since it's late in the evening, the choices for snacks and pastries were limited. There were still brownies, muffins and cookies but we decided to order a slice of Mango Blondie. We wanted to make sure the food was halal so we asked the same friendly shop attendant if the Mango Blondie contains any gelatin and she was kind enough to text the shop owner to make sure.

After making sure the food was halal, we sat down and enjoyed the vintage decoration of the shop while waiting for our coffee. We didn't have to wait long for them to serve us. The coffee shop was fairly comfortable, we picked the table indoor even though the weather was just nice outside.

Campos is already a well-known coffee brand in Australia so the coffee was good. The Mango Blondie was okay though there was nothing special about it. But the coffee is up to standards compared to most coffee shops we've been to. The price is also standard and compatible with the quality of food provided. Overall, we had a nice 'minum petang' here and I encourage coffee lovers to come here especially to those who enjoy having a cup of coffee at beautifully decorated shops (or cafe hipstur).
